Prior to 1969, Australia did not have a national number for emergency services; the police, fire and ambulance services possessed many phone numbers, one for each local unit.

National Security - numbers to call

Members of the public can report suspicious activities to:

The current Commonwealth Government National Terrorism Threat Level for Australia is PROBABLE.

Victorian government departments and key agencies such as Victoria Police are working closely together with Commonwealth counterparts through longstanding national security arrangements, to ensure the right security measures are in place.

Victoria Police is urging everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity through:
